Rasta Is Royalty is part of the Rasta Regality series, an ongoing body of work that seeks to celebrate Rastafarian identity through the language of portraiture and fashion. At its core, the series offers a counter-narrative, one that honours the depth of character, knowledge, and spiritual strength cultivated over decades, defying the stereotypes and misconceptions that society has often imposed.
In this portrait, an elder Rasta stands as a symbol of resilience and wisdom. His piercing gaze, weathered features, and flowing locks speak to a lifetime of experience, while the bold contemporary tailoring and commanding use of colour, embodies quiet sovereignty. This portrait reminds us that royalty is not defined by crowns or titles, but by self-possession, integrity, and lived experience.
