Butre Ballers, 2024
Junior Sealy, Barbados
Limited Edition Photographic Print (5) Hahnemühle Silk Baryta 310gsm
23.62 × 15.75in | 60 X 40cm
Captured in the coastal village of Butre by Junior Sealy, this portrait was made moments after an impromptu game of football on one of the world's most remarkable pitches, a stretch of golden beach framed by the Atlantic Ocean. Covered in sand and still carrying the energy of play, the children gather before the camera, their expressions revealing confidence, curiosity, joy, and camaraderie.
More than a photograph after a game, the image is a celebration of community, childhood, and the universal language of football. Against the vast backdrop of sea and sky, the worn ball reminds us that the spirit of the game is not defined by stadiums or status, but by the people who play it. The work captures a fleeting moment of connection, where friendship, freedom, and the beauty of everyday life converge on the shores of Ghana.
