Held up at gun point in his own home - a lovely place in an up-scale neighbourhood in Georgetown to which he had returned from New York, a dozen years earlier - being scared to raise his two daughters there, his wife, in a flood of tears declared she'd had enough and wanted out. She wanted the calm of Tobago or Barbados, where our courtship had begun. So they fled the fraught and found fun and frolic on friendly beaches in Barbados. It changed the content of his art. He internalised that calm and a scape of peace and tranquility became manifest within. It is from that place that this painting comes.
